It only seems like yesterday that we sat down within Springboard and explored the possibility of creating a new division. Our aim - to deliver courses to clients and non-clients around place data. We’ve come a long way since that idea was a mere vision of our CEO, Steve Booth, and nine months later, in March 2019, we officially launched the Springboard Learning Academy.
Steve’s vision was clear – up skill those who use data on places, stores and destinations and create a course that allows BID Managers, Shopping Centre Managers, Retailers, Council Officers and many more (the list is endless) to spend a day with Springboard and walk away knowing how to get the best out of place data. Challenge accepted!
We knew we had to recruit someone who could understand various data sets but we also needed someone who had years of experience working with place data and could deliver training to a wide ranging audience. Step forward Simon Benbow, Springboard’s first ever Training Manager. With 18 years of training and data analytics experience to retailers, place managers and landlords, Simon was just the person for the job.
With Simon on board we wanted to make sure our delegates would be able to show a return on their investment by attending our courses, if they were going to invest time and money in learning with us. Working with Prof. Cathy Parker and the team at the Institute of Place Management we designed our first course – Understanding the Fundamentals of Data in Place – but also two other courses that together deliver a Diploma in Place data.
Our first course secured CPD accreditation. That means that all delegates who attend the course and complete a short assignment receive 500 CPD points towards their professional development.
Since launching in March, we have delivered our Fundamentals course throughout the UK – from Glasgow to Bournemouth and Belfast to Ipswich. The feedback from our delegates has been fantastic, especially for a course that didn’t exist 12 months ago! A huge thank you to everyone who attended our first ever trial course in Waterloo back in April and to all those who have supported the academy since.
Back to August and, just like the rest of the UK, the Springboard Learning Academy are ready to start a new term with brand new courses. Over the summer weeks we have been busy curating our next two courses: Using Place Data to Enhance Perceptions through Marketing & PR and Place Data For Investment and Strategic Decision Making.
We are so excited to launch these courses for the new term which will further enhance delegates knowledge in using place data.
Using Place Data to Enhance Perceptions through Marketing & PR course is now open for bookings for its first date in Birmingham City Centre on Wednesday 6th November 2019. Places are limited so be the first to attend this exciting new course.
We’ve also released new dates for our first course, Understanding the Fundamentals of Data in Place, in the new term. With a mix of interactive sessions, gamification and small group discussions this course really provides you with a grounding in data understanding for delegates at all levels. Our Fundamentals course can also be adapted for organizations interested in bespoke in-house training.
As a Learning Academy our goal is to help you with your professional development, so we're constantly creating new content and adapting our techniques (Simon loves creating a new game for the courses). We're here to discuss your learning requirements so please feel free to contact myself or Simon about any of the courses or to talk about bespoke training.
