The Lollapalooza event in Chicago that took place between Thursday 1st and Sunday 4th August was hugely successful, increasing visitor numbers significantly. Pedestrian counts in the City increased by +19.3% from the week before and by +43% in the area of the City where the event was held. The event was successful in increasing activity across the entire day, but particularly post 8pm when pedestrian counts rose by +36.2% across the entire City from the week before, and by a staggering +69.2% in the part of the City Centre closest to the event.
Pedestrian activity on each day of the four day event was higher than on the same days in the previous week, with notable uplifts of more than +50% over the three days between Friday and Sunday. Post 8pm on Saturday and Sunday visitor numbers doubled from the previous Saturday and Sunday.
