Purpose of Role

As a Technical Engineer you will undertake required Installations, site surveys, Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), and fault call-outs plus other ad-hoc duties as required.

 

The Technical Engineer will also:

  • Assist in the success of the customer relationship
  • Provide business sign off that any works undertaken have met required standards
  • Use their site experience to provide insights to the US Analyst team as required
  • Support the local sales function
  • Provide reporting information to the Technical Solutions Executive, to assist in the monitoring of the performance of the USA Ops team using defined metrics for onward reporting into COO

 

Key responsibilities

  • Safety is our number one priority. Follow safe work practices and company and client worksite policies
  • Assists the sales organization by undertaking sales surveys where required providing the US sales team with marked-up drawings, plans, and kit list to enable proposals to be drafted in a timely manner
  • Provide the Technical Solutions Executive with input to allow scope of works and/or cost estimates to be written. This would include predicting the duration of the project including contingencies
  • Undertake full technical surveys where required. This should include all aspects from an engineering perspective including, but not limited to; cable runs, counter location mounts, counter types, networking requirements
  • Undertake solution installations and counter commissioning
  • Undertake triage and fault call outs to seek a resolution for counters that are offline
  • Perform PPM activities for all counters across the designated territory

  • Audit any works undertaken by engineering partner for quality and consistency
  • Deliver ad hoc reports for Technical Solutions Executive and COO
  • Represent the business at site/client meetings offering technical insight
  • Help with product and solution development

 

Education and experience

  • Must have the proven ability to design, engineer, estimate, and develop written and graphic representation of the company’s proposed solutions utilizing the software resources provided by the company
  • Can read construction / floor plans
  • Experience of ELV (Electrical Low Voltage), Security, Digital & Basic Networking System
  • Understanding of LAN and WAN topologies for security systems including switches, routers, and firewalls. Some IP networking knowledge
  • A logical approach to fault finding
  • An understanding of pedestrian/shopper counting solutions would be ideal but not essential
  • 3-5 years experience of installing IP CCTV cameras including in outdoor environments
  • 4+ years of engineering/site experience
  • Must be professional in conduct and practice, and also reliable
  • Must have an inquisitive attitude to problem-solving
  • Creative, responsive, and adaptive in a dynamic environment
  • Must have the aptitude and desire to learn new competencies and skills
  • Ability to independently, resourcefully, and creatively research and implement new solutions
  • Good interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Willingness to travel – 50% of the time
