Press Release - April 2003
South Yorkshire towns adopt electronic pedestrian counting
Springboard's electronic pedestrian counting service has been adopted by a number of towns within the South Yorks region. The camera based service uses the latest generation counting technology - i-siteTM - to provide accurate, continuous pedestrian counts 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Five towns in South Yorkshire have taken up the service - Rotherham, Doncaster, Wakefield, Castleford and Pontefract - which provides strong regional benchmarking. This means that each town is able to identify regional trends, and to establish whether it is over or under performing relative to other towns in the region.
Springboard's electronic pedestrian counting service has been adopted by a number of towns within the South Yorks region Rotherham and Doncaster have both opted for town-wide coverage which enables them to continuously monitor different aspects of their town: the street market, town centre events, the evening economy and secondary and prime retail areas.
Data is uploaded to the Springboard website on a daily basis. Information is presented as reports with text and graphs and as a database, and is retrieved through the web at www.spring-board.info.
